I am totally stoked for this next month! After we finish the Sinai Code this Sunday we are going to start One Prayer: God is.  A simple idea — what if the church started to answer the prayer of Jesus when He prayed “make them one”? One Prayer is an opportunity to see what can be accomplished when the Church works together.

Last June, we were part of thousands of churches as we formed unprecedented partnerships across cities, denominations, and cultures.  More than two million believers stood together to learn, pray, fast, and love others. This year, we will be joining in again with others around the globe during One Prayer 2009.

This year’s theme is God is (fill in the blank).  I have selected some outstanding messages that I know will speak to our family. There are so many great options that we will be doing this series both Wednesday night and Sunday morning. Here is the line up!

Wednesday, May 20: God is Encouraging : Rick Bezet (this message rocks!)
Sunday, May 24: God is Love : Craig Groeschel (God loves you..but can you say that to yourself?)
Wednesday, May 27: God is More : Chris Hodges (why say God is?…when he is so much more)
Sunday, May 31: God is My Transformer : Don Cain (Don is one of my personal mentors)
Wednesday, June 3: God is Creative : Tim Harris (Some outstanding Baptist preaching)
Sunday, June 7: God is Strength : Francis Chan (Get ready for this one!)
Wednesday, June 10 : God is for You : John Burke (So many believe he is against us)
Sunday, June 14: God is FatherCraig Groeschel
Wednesday, June 17 : God is Here and Anything Can Happen : Dino Rizzo (the guy lives the life)
Sunday, June 21: God is Good : Chris Nixon (We all love Chris and look forward to hearing her heart)
Wednesday, June 24 :
Sunday, June 28:  God is not Uncertain: Andy Stanley (I sit at the feet of this man on a regular basis)

Just a reminder we are starting a new series tonight called “The Vow.” Yes this is marriage series but yet so much more. Tonight we are looking at the vow of priority. As we put God first and then our spouse (or significant other). Wednesday nights are about learning but more importantly about community. Each and every one of you have so much to offer each other. This will be a great topic for that fact to become a reality as we come together.

Also this last weekend’s service was one of the best message the pastor has ever shared. Trust me I am his worst critic. If you missed it … the Ten Commandments were not given as conditions of a relationship with God but rather as confirmation of a relationship He had already established with us.

The audio and some reflection questions have been posted to the website.  I thank Pastor Andy Stanley and Pastor Ron Mehl for their thoughts on the Ten Commandments and these questions. Check them out at http://southeverett.org/rules-of-engagement.

Join us this weekend as we look at the first two commandments a little closer. Most people only know the last five but it’s the first two that are key to understanding the rest. God wants to be front and center in your life, and He will not be downsized or marginalized.

For better or worse… to have and to hold, from this day forward… Wedding vows are more than a declaration of love-they hold the keys for a strong lasting marriage. Whether you hope to get married someday, or you’ve already tied the knot, discover what these words can mean for the future of your relationship.
Plan on taking four Wednesday nights the end of April and into May as we look at this great series.

sinaismallThirty-five hundred years ago Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with a short list of rules that has shaped the values of men and nations for centuries. We know them as the Ten Commandments, but do we really know them? Some would argue that it is the Ten Commandments that set the stage for mankind to feel as if we must perform our way into God’s good graces, but was that the reason they were given?
God desires to have a relationship with us and that trumps the rules.  This is as concept that when I heard it several years ago changed the way I view God and how he desires to interact with me. I know that I don’t live in Egypt anymore but learning how to live in freedom was always hard.

I would love to spend five weeks with you as we look at common misconceptions about the 10 commandments and explain their purpose in our lives today. Join me on Sundays starting April 19th.

crosssmallOn the way to the cross Jesus had many interruptions and took some personal detours along the way. A person that had been lame for 38 years…A girl that was dying…A huge crowd of people that were hungry…12 students that wanted to be trained but no one would teach them…religious leaders that would question him…friends that would betray him…guards that would spit on him.  He would experience a lot on His way to the cross.

And at the final moments he met two more men…one would believe in Him and the other would mock him.

He experienced  a lot on His way to the cross.   Jesus did it all to make it personal for you and me.

Come be with us April 5 & 12 as we journey on the way to the cross and make it personal.
